Grenada relies heavily on tourism as it primary source of foreign exchange; especially since the construction of its international airport back in the 1980s.
Hurricanes Ivan (2004) and Emily (2005) severely damaged the nation's agricultural sector - particularly nutmeg and cocoa cultivation - which had been a key driver of economic growth.
However, Grenada has rebounded from these devastating effects. Strong performances in construction and manufacturing, together with the development of tourism and higher education have contributed to growth in national output.
