Groundnuts, sesame, cashew nuts, scrap metals, and fish and seafood products are the main export commodities from the Gambia, with most of them destined for the Far East, India, the EU and the US.
The country’s main imports are mostly finished products and foodstuffs from the Far East, the EU, the US and other parts of the world. Given the size of the country, the bulk of these imports transit to neighboring countries.
What is demurrage?
Demurrage is the charge applicable, after the free time expires, inside the terminal for the use of the land. In case of a demurrage dispute, email log@msc.com or imp@msc.com (with as email subject: Dispute + Invoice Number), describing the reasons for the dispute.
Detention and Per Diem are not applicable to MSC containers in Banjul.
Verified Gross Mass or VGM refers to the exact, verified weight of a packed container. For safety reasons, vessel operators can only load a container if its weight has been verified.
