Forbidden goods
- Used cars 8 years old and older are not allowed to be imported into Suriname.
- Used buses 15 years old and older are not allowed to be imported into Suriname.
- No limitation on used trucks.
- Used tires and scrap rubber should not be accepted.

Special conditions
For all imports to Suriname, all bills of lading must clearly state the full name, local address and local contact number either as notify party or consignee. Failure to do so may result in all port storage/line demurrage being for the account of the port of loading. Effective Friday June 23, 2017, the following measure shall apply, as determined by the Minister of Finance, G. Hoefdraad, regarding the release of containers:
- Each container leaving the harbor shall be subjected to a full inspection.
- Inspection may include the services of Customs Investigation and Excise Unit.
- Release of containers shall occur only from Monday through Friday between 07:00 and 15:00 hrs.
- Once released, the container(s) shall have to leave the harbor before 15:00 hrs.
- Release of urgent cargo during the weekend shall require written permission from the acting head of duty.
