At MSC, Corporate Social Responsibility has long been an integral part of our business strategy and employee culture.
We don’t just acknowledge sustainability and the issues affecting the world’s land and seascape – we embrace every opportunity to consider the impact we make.
That commitment spans the way we treat the environment, animals in their habitat, our customers and their communities, and indeed, our own staff.
It’s the core of a unique Sustainability Strategy coined by MSC’s Management, and which we refer to as The Quadruple E’s.
MSC is actively working to minimise air pollution from our vessel emissions and to reduce the risks of transporting various types of cargo – such as hazardous materials – around the world.
We have invested heavily in new technologies and processes which have ensured our environmental performance consistently improves.
MSC works hard to promote high standards of ethical and responsible conduct across its 24,000 employees.
We have a robust Code of Conduct in place and over the years we have developed and implemented a number of specific policies across our global agency network to raise standards in accordance with specific cultures and communities.
Our approach is reported annually to the UN Global Compact, and is monitored via frequent ISO audit processes.
Community and People Development
MSC is proud of its work with foundations and charities of all sizes, in nations around the world.
We contribute some $1.5million every year to causes which are close to the heart of our employees and their families.
On a larger scale, we support major global initiatives, including UNICEF, Operation Smile and Mercy Ships.
Our staff frequently participate in events – from the smallest cake sale to an international mission – to share their genuine enthusiasm and compassion for important charitable initiatives.
The activity is overseen by our HQ-based CSR team, and supported by our network of agencies.
