Find information about Venezuelan Customs Authorities
As from March 1st 2003, Venezuelan Customs Authorities have established new Import regulations and have implemented a new automatic data system known as SIDUNEA, under which carriers must declare Import Documentation 48 hours prior to vessel arrival. Otherwise, it could be subject of a significant fine.
Being so, all the BLs must be FINAL; correctors can only be accepted 48 hours prior vessel arrival.
LEGAL CARGO ABANDON
After 35 days of arrived -if not declared- any cargo will automatically be considered by Local Customs Authorities as "Legal Abandonment" and it can be subject of auction. For shipments involving “Food stuff” the period is 15 days.
The process to rescue the cargo from Legal Abandonment (Special Customs Manifest) can take between 30-50 days. Customs will decide either to authorize the clearing of the cargo or to complete its confiscation.
