Changes Affect Services Between Asia, Europe, USA & Canada
MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is pleased to announce an upgrade to the existing 2M Network which will take effect from the 1st April 2017.
The revision follows an unprecedented year in the liner industry, which saw considerable change to the composition of alliances and commercial structures, including significant mergers and acquisitions.
It ensures that MSC – as part of 2M – is able to maintain the most efficient network, with strong reliability and stability of service, together with an increased frequency of sailings.
The scale of the network is considerably larger today, as a result of the new slot purchase agreements, reached directly with Hamburg Sud and Hyundai.
The 2M partners have ensured the network has been optimised to accommodate the volumes, therefore, despite the increase in the network operation, this does not impact on the capacity being deployed into the current market.
All vessels on the network being announced today will be operated exclusively by MSC and Maersk Line only.
Caroline Becquart, Senior Vice President and Head of VSAs for MSC, said:
“We are delighted to unveil our new network today, which will bring continued assurance to our customers trading between Asia, Europe and the United States. Following a time of such change and transition in the industry, we recognise that stability and continuity is of paramount importance to our customers. We are proud to operate this network exclusively, and in creating its structure we have focused on scale, efficiency and reliability to ensure our offering remains market leading.”
