Find out More About our Integration Suite
Answers to frequently asked questions about the MSC Integration Suite.
What are the steps to establish integration with MSC?
- Integration Request: The integration request must be submitted to MSC via the request form.
- MSC Internal Assessment: MSC’s integration team evaluates the request details and contacts the requestor to propose a suitable solution aligned with their needs.
- Data Sharing Agreement: As part of the onboarding process, a Data Sharing Agreement must be signed to secure the integration and confirm alignment with MSC’s terms and conditions.
- Connection Setup: MSC technical experts work with the requestor’s technical team to set up the connection and complete the required development activities.
- Testing: MSC supports the requestor during UAT testing to ensure quality and validate all scenarios before production deployment.
- Go-Live: Once testing is completed and the scope and timelines are agreed, the integration goes live with support from MSC’s technical and integration teams.
- Support: After go-live, MSC provides dedicated support, to address and resolve any integration-related issues as quickly as possible.
What documentation is required to proceed with an integration?
To proceed with an integration, a Data Sharing Agreement must be signed between the parties. In the case of an integration via a Solution Provider, a Letter of Authorization (LOA) is required for each customer.
Are there any fees associated with the Integration Suite?
Integrations via third party vendors are subject to fees depending on the setup and on the Integration Package selected. Customers connecting directly to MSC are not charged.
How can I follow up on the status of my request?
Once your request has been submitted, our team will keep you informed about its status and will contact you if any additional information is required.
Where can I find the technical implementation guidelines supported by MSC?
All EDI and API implementation guidelines as well as sample data are available in our Developer Portal for reference. API credentials for both UAT and Production environments are provided only after the onboarding process has been completed.
Can I have multiple connections for the same company?
No, we provide one connection per customer, that can support multiple message types. Multiple connections per region are not supported.
Can I customize the message format for the EDI?
Our solutions are designed to address your needs while complying with the standardization best practices. As such, we do not recommend customized or non-standardized integrations.
How many API calls are supported?
API usage is limited to 100,000 calls per day and up to 4 calls per second. These limits cannot be increased.
Is it possible to have hybrid integration (API and EDI)?
Yes, a hybrid setup combining API and EDI is possible. However, it is generally recommended to go for API integrations, as they are faster to implement, more flexible, and provide data availability closer to real time.
How’s the data availability across the EDI and API connections?
- With API connections, data is available close to real time. As soon as the data is received in our systems, it becomes available.
- For EDI integrations, data is processed in batch mode, meaning it becomes available according to the defined batch processing schedule.
Is there a Spot Quotes integration available?
Spot quotes are currently available only via myMSC. At this time, no API or EDI solutions are available for spot quotes.
Is there a global solution available for invoices?
At present, no global invoicing solution is available. For invoice-related matters, please contact the local MSC agency.
What if I’m using the older RSS Feed?
Please indicate that you’re a current RSS Feed (web services) customer when submitting the Integration Request Form, including the URL you use to access the information. This will help us to migrate the technical component for your new API connection.
Why can’t I find integration formats from my local office in the MSC catalogue?
The portfolio of integration formats shown in the MSC catalogue is available at global level. The MSC API and EDI solutions share information on all shipments, from different locations following the same message standards and harmonized process. Integration formats, that are managed locally, are not included in this process yet.
