Emergency Fuel Surcharge - Trade from Northern Europe (incl. UK and Scanbaltic) to Italy
15/04/2026
Recent events in the Middle East have created significant disruption across the global fuel market. This has driven a rapid increase in marine fuel prices globally and has altered the normal geographic distribution of marine fuel supply.
As a consequence, this has reduced the availability of bunker fuel at many traditional sourcing locations, which are increasing procurement challenges and adding operating costs across our network.
As a result, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will update the Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) previously announced on 11 March 2026 to offset the operational disruption and maintain service continuity.
As from 01 May 2026 (gate in date) until further notice, the EFS will be applicable to all cargo on the trade from Northern Europe (including UK and Scanbaltic) to Italy, and will be charged as follows:
| DRY/TEU | REEFER/TEU | |||||
| USD | EUR | GBP | USD | EUR | GBP | |
| 97 | 84 | 72 | 145 | 126 | 109 | |
Any other elements of the price, for the relevant trade published on msc.com, still apply and remain unchanged.
