Loss or damage to your cargo can cause understandable financial and emotional stress — that is why you can always count on MSC. Our cargo cover solutions are designed to protect your cargo against maritime and inland transportation risks, giving you peace of mind.
Cargo Cover to Meet Your Needs
Whatever your business needs, our team at MSC is on hand to help find the right cargo protection solution for you.
Our extended protection solution (EPR) is an extended liability product which expands the terms of our standard bill of lading. It effectively provides your cargo with an extra layer of security against transportation risks occurring under MSC’s custody.
Alternatively, our marine cargo insurance solution provides you with a full, comprehensive policy and a certificate of insurance.

MSC Extended Protection gives you the extra level of protection you need — and the option to protect your cargo’s partial or full value.

FAQs?
When should I choose MSC Extended Protection instead of Marine Cargo Insurance?
Why choose when you can have both? Our Extended Protection solution may be used alongside your existing Marine Cargo Insurance solution to cover the value of your insurance deductible. By offering an additional layer of protection against cargo losses, thefts or damages, our Extended Protection services could be a valuable investment.
How long does it take to settle a claim?
With our Extended Protection solution, our dedicated claims team will process your claim in as little as 30 working days from the time your documentation is received! For our Marine Cargo Insurance solution, the claim is processed on the insurer’s timeline and requirements, but our teams will support you at every stage.
Is my cargo covered only during sea transport or also during inland transportation?
Both solutions are designed to protect your cargo door-to-door. Marine Cargo Insurance protects the inland portion whether performed by MSC or your own suppliers. MSC Extended Protection protects the inland portion only if arranged by MSC/Medlog or a subcontractor of MSC.
