MSC celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Port of Abidjan with Côte d'Ivoire: a partnership for regional development
04/09/2025
On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Autonomous Port of Abidjan (PAA), MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) reaffirms its historical and strategic commitment to the Ivorian port platform, a key player in maritime trade in West Africa.
Placed under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Alassane Ouattara, the festivities will take place on September 11 and 12, 2025, at the Port of Abidjan and the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire. They will bring together the main actors of the Abidjan Port Community around panels, exhibitions, official ceremonies and technical visits.
MSC DILETTA: Symbol of power and partnership
On Monday, April 28, 2025, the Autonomous Port of Abidjan welcomed for the first time the MSC DILETTA, a 400-meter-long container ship with a capacity of 24,000 TEUs, the largest ship ever received in its waters. This exceptional stopover is part of the strategic investments made by the Ivorian State and Côte d'Ivoire Terminal (CIT), allowing the port to handle latest-generation ships thanks to modernized infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment.
"The arrival of MSC DILETTA is a strong symbol of our shared commitment to scale up operations, strengthen intra-African and global connectivity, and promote a sustainable logistics ecosystem," said Cedric Goujon, Director of MSC Côte d'Ivoire.
A sustainable partnership for progress
For several decades, MSC has been supporting the Port of Abidjan in its evolution, actively contributing to the growth of maritime trade and both of the hinterland. This partnership is part of a shared vision of sustainable development, regional integration and strengthening supply chains in West Africa. By celebrating the port's 75th anniversary, MSC is paying tribute to a fruitful collaboration that contributes to the influence of Côte d'Ivoire and the sub-region.
