02/07/2022

On 28 January, MSC Cambodia officially cut the ribbon on its new office located in the central part of Phnom Penh at the Beong Keng Kang area. The 300 square-foot office is comrpises an upsized office space, as well as bigger staff pantry and meeting rooms. The reception/counter area has also been improved to be roomier and more comfortable for visitors.

MSC has started business operations locally in Cambodia since 2015; business has been growing at a good pace over the years and the headcount has doubled in size compared to the beginning. The company is currently providing both feeder and barge solutions to shippers in Cambodia, with feeders going to/from Singapore or Tanjung Pelepas Port in Malaysia from/to Sihanoukville, as well as barges operating between Phnom Penh and Vung Tau, Vietnam.

“We are facilitating trade between Cambodia and other regions and also within intra-Asia, by moving exports such as garments, footwear, bicycles and furniture and importing a wide range of goods including vehicles, electronics, fresh fruits and frozen meat. With the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) entering into force in January 2022, we are looking forward to opportunities to move more agricultural goods and raw materials,” said Putkiri Vou, General Manager of MSC Cambodia.

The RCEP is the largest free trade agreement in the world, involving 15 countries, and comprising about 30% of global GDP and about a third of the world’s population. Cambodia is expected to benefit from the starting of the RCEP due to implementation of preferential tariffs on important products such as agricultural goods, processed agricultural products and industrial goods.
