MSC to Discuss Environmental Challenges Affecting the Maritime Industry at GST19 in Athens

22/05/2019

Bud Darr, Executive Vice President for Maritime Policy and Government Affairs, MSC Group, will deliver a keynote speech at the International Green Shipping & Technology Summit (GST19) in Athens on 29-30 May.

His speech takes place on the opening day at 12 noon and will focus on how a multi-sector shipowner deals with environmental challenges, specifically focusing on emissions, energy efficiency and green technology.

GST19 brings together over 40 speakers and thought leaders who will share their insights into latest trends and solutions in green shipping. More than 300 delegates are expected to come together in Athens to share their experiences and to discuss industry challenges such as fuel strategies, energy efficiency and implementation of green technologies.

MSC is heavily investing in a number of technical solutions to meet or exceed the new regulations, finding innovative solutions and continuously improving its environmental performance. Our modern, green fleet was greatly enhanced in recent years by a retrofitting programme and we have invested extensively in the latest generation of marine technologies, such as new energy-efficient propellers and bows to reduce fuel consumption and therefore improve our energy efficiency.

MSC welcomes opportunities such as GST19 to actively engage in discussions about improving maritime industry’s sustainability performance. We look forward to continuing to join forces to foster a sustainable and responsible approach to doing business throughout our sector and beyond.
