Emergency Fuel Surcharge - Trade from Red Sea and EAF to NWC (inc. UK and Scanbaltic), West Mediterranean and Adriatic

13/04/2026

Recent events in the Middle East have created significant disruption across the global fuel market. This has driven a rapid increase in marine fuel prices globally and has altered the normal geographic distribution of marine fuel supply.

As a consequence, this has reduced the availability of bunker fuel at many traditional sourcing locations, which are increasing procurement challenges and adding operating costs across our network.

As a result, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will update the Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) to all cargo from Red Sea and East Africa to Northern Europe (including UK and Scanbaltic), West Mediterranean and Adriatic.

As from 16th April 2026 (BL date) until 30th April, the EFS will be charged as follows:
 Trades  DRY/TEU  REEFER/TEU
From Red Sea to Northern Europe (inc. UK)
USD 135 USD 205
From Red Sea to Scanbaltic USD 200
USD 300
From Red Sea to West Mediterranean and Adriatic USD 100  USD 155
From to Red Sea to East Africa  USD 145 USD 220
From East Africa to Northern Europe (inc. UK)   USD 255 USD 385
From East Africa to Scanbaltic USD  320 USD 480
From East Africa to West Mediterranean and Adriatic  USD 235  USD  355
From East Africa to Red Sea  USD 145 USD 220

Any other elements of the price, for the relevant trade published on msc.com, still apply and remain unchanged.
