10/09/2025
On 10 September 2025, MEDLOG officially opened its newest, state-of-the-art cold chain logistics facility in Savannah, Georgia, marking a major milestone for US protein suppliers.
Combining the largest blast freezing capacity in the US with direct links to the Port of Savannah, one of the fastest growing ports in the world, the facility strengthens connections between US protein suppliers and rapidly growing markets.
More than 200 customers, partners and government representatives attended the grand opening ceremony, which included a guided tour of the facility.
The “Crown Jewel” of Cold Chain Logistics
Dubbed the "Crown Jewel of the Cold Storage Industry," the new facility spans more than 300,000 square feet. The facility boasts the largest blast freezing capacity in the U.S. at three million pounds of raw protein for rapid freezing and export per 24-hour period, making it three times as efficient as the 72-hour industry standard.
Engineered with flexibility and scale in mind to meet evolving cargo needs, the facility’s capacity to store nearly 20,000 freezer and cooler pallets significantly expands MEDLOG’s comprehensive cold storage solutions for customers across the meat industry. Additionally, convertible storage zones ranging from –28.9°C to +4.4°C allow MEDLOG to easily accommodate perishable goods.
Purpose-Built for the Protein Industry
The facility will serve as a strategic logistics hub for protein suppliers across the Southeast and as far as the Midwest, with its opening marking an exciting new chapter for US protein suppliers and their evolving needs. Additional key features include:
- 42 loading docks built to support rail cargo for inland distribution and equipped to handle high volumes of import and export, offering seamless multimodal transportation solutions.
- Proximity to the Port of Savannah, one of the most connected ports in the US, providing direct access to rapidly growing markets across the world.
- With a 5-star energy rating, the solar-powered facility features efficient refrigeration, advanced insulation, and reduced energy loss.
