Prohibited Cargo
Before arranging your shipment, you should take into account that not all the goods can be exported from/imported in Spain or accepted by your destination country. Some products are prohibited by local authorities, while others may be subject to restrictions or need special licenses.
We recommend you check the European Commission Access2Markets website to check any restrictions in place or speak to our local export and import teams.
Cut-Off information
Cut-offs can be found on the Schedules tool of msc.com, as well as on our e-business platform myMSC.
Please, follow the next steps to easily find them on myMSC:
- Navigate in the menu on the left to Schedules & Cut-offs
- Click on “By Booking” if you want to retrieve the information for a specific booking or click on “By Port” if you want to retrieve the information for a particular port pair
Detention, demurrage and storage charges
What is detention?
EXPORT
Detentions is a charge applicable on containers once the free time period has expired. The detentions period starts from pick up of the empty container from the terminal or designated depot until it enters full into terminal for further shipment. This charge covers the use of the container.
What is demurrage?
EXPORT
Demurrage is the charge applicable on containers once free the time period has expired. The demurrage period starts when the full container enters the port, and finishes on the actual ETA of the designated vessel. This charge covers the use of the container.
IMPORT
Demurrage is the charge applicable on containers once free the time period has expired. The demurrage period starts when the vessel arrives at the port, and it covers until the container has been taken out of the premises and it is returned empty to the designated depot or terminal. This charge covers the use of the container.
What are storage charges?

Storage is the charge applicable on containers once the free time period has expired. The storage period starts when the container arrives at the port, and it covers until the vessel sailing date.
IMPORT
Storage is the charge applicable on containers once the free time period has expired. The storage period starts when the vessel arrives at the port, and it covers until the container has been taken out of the premises to be delivered and unstuffed.
