MSC Participates in 12th World Rice Conference, to be Held Online This Year

MSC will return to the 12th edition of the World Rice Conference, taking place from 1- 3 December. Pitched as the world’s premier conference on rice, this is the first time the event will be held online due to the current COVID-19 situation.

The event is targeted at the global rice community and the many allied industries that support the production, transport, trade and consumption of rice. Millers, traders, exporters, brokers as well as rice associations and related government bodies are expected to attend the virtual event to network and discuss business opportunities.

Rice is one of the world’s leading food crops and is the staple food of more than half of the world’s population. In spite of the increased volatility in the global rice market, in part due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance in delivering rice to different parts of the world has never been more important.

Shipping rice via containers is growing as an alternative to shipping rice as bulk cargo. Using containers helps to protect rice from high temperatures, theft, wet damage and other hazards while in transit. It is also an effective method of maintaining the quality of the cargo even in bad weather, which is essential as moisture may cause rice to be subject to mould and spoilage. In addition, containers also provide more flexibility for shippers as smaller quantities can be shipped at a time.

At MSC we understand that a trusted partner is essential to ensure rice cargo is kept at the right temperature and moisture levels and arrives safely and on time.  With our decades of experience in transporting rice, shippers can rely on MSC’s end-to-end solutions for the import and export of rice across all major trade lanes for the industry.

This year, besides being an exhibitor, MSC is also the Virtual Exhibit Hall Break Sponsor for the event.  We welcome you to come meet our dedicated rice experts virtually at the World Rice Conference to find out more about our comprehensive transportation solutions.
