MSC Sailing Team Looks Forward to Turkcell Platinum Bosphorus Cup Regatta
09/20/2019
After a fine performance in the Copa del Rey, MSC’s competitive sailing team is excited to be taking part for the first time in the Turkcell Platinum Bosphorus Cup, one of the most remarkable events on the international sailing calendar.
MSC will charter a larger boat, a Farr40, one of the favourite class to race between Europe and Asia, a unique experience. The Turkcell Platinum Bosphorus Cup crew includes MSC employees Angelo Pietrantonio, Gilbert Cappellini, Fabio Di Rosa, Joel Kunzi, Olivier Raison and Olmo Del Pozzo and Lucie Bequet our first feminine crew member, as well as four members from outside the company: helmsman Nicolas Groux, tactician Patrick Huguenin and boat captain Oğuz Ayan.
MSC is built on maritime heritage, with a genuine passion for the sea and a strong commitment to our employees and communities. This makes sailing a natural fit for our business and corporate values, as a family company that cares for the environment and our people.
Sailing is one of the greenest sports in the world and by nature promotes the preservation of marine environment – and we need clean seas to properly perform in both competitions and in business.
The MSC sailing team started as an internal initiative but the commitment of our sailors was so impressive that it was decided the team should start participating in international regattas.
Held in Istanbul, Türkiye on 28 and 29 September, Turkcell Platinum Bosphorus Cup has been running since 2002. There are 800 sailors pre-registered in this year’s edition from 8 countries. The race will take place in two different area, on 28 Sept. in the Bosphorus Strait and on 29 Sept. in the Sea of Marmara.
MSC Team’s skipper Nicolas Groux has participated in the Tour de France à la voile five times, twice as skipper. He has two Swiss Championship titles in Surprise and three victories in the Primo Cup. Angelo Pietrantonio, Gilbert Cappellini, Fabio Di Rosa, Joel Kunzi, Lucie Bequet, Olivier Raison and Olmo Del Pozzo complete the MSC team.
As well as the Bol d’Or, MSC Team has participated in other regattas on Lake Geneva, including the Geneva-Rolle, la Régate de Châteaux, la Belle Etoile, since the start of the season in April.
