Greek Media Reports on Cigarette Smuggling

In response to recent Greek media reports about the arrest of a vessel suspected by Hellenic Prosecuting Authorities of carrying smuggled cigarettes, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. wishes to point out that it is not the owner of the two containers MSCU8077026 and MSCU8933159 pictured in these reports. These containers were sold several years ago to independent container operators in Antwerp and Beirut and it is therefore entirely inappropriate to associate this incident with MSC or its brand. MSC has provided all available information and cooperation to the authorities on this matter.
