Emergency Fuel Surcharge Trades from Mediterranean (inc. West Mediterranean, Adriatic, East Mediterranean, Greece and Turkey) and Black Sea to Indian Sub-Continent, Red Sea and East Africa

23/04/2026

Recent events in the Middle East have created significant disruption across the global fuel market. This has driven a rapid increase in marine fuel prices globally and has altered the normal geographic distribution of marine fuel supply.

As a consequence, this has reduced the availability of bunker fuel at many traditional sourcing locations, which are increasing procurement challenges and adding operating costs across our network.

As a result, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will update the Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) to all cargo from Mediterranean (including West Mediterranean, Adriatic, East Mediterranean, Greece and Turkey) and Black Sea to Indian Sub-Continent, Red Sea and East Africa.

As from 01 May 2026 (Proforma date) until 31 May 2026, the EFS will be charged at:

 Trades  DRY/TEU  REEFER/TEU
From West Mediterranean and Adriatic to Red Sea
USD 84
USD 126
From West Mediterranean and Adriatic to East Africa USD 193
USD 291
From West Mediterranean and Adriatic to Indian Sub-Continent USD 123  USD 206

 Trades  DRY/TEU  REEFER/TEU
From East Mediterranean and Black Sea to Red Sea
USD 67
USD 101
From East Mediterranean and Black Sea to East Africa  USD 154
USD 232
From East Mediterranean and Black Sea to Indian Sub-Continent USD 98  USD 149

Any other elements of the price, for the relevant trade published on msc.com, still apply and remain unchanged.
