Mediterranean Shipping Company (UK) Ltd is proud to support Ipswich’s bid to become ‘UK City of Culture 2029’. With more than 850+ colleagues operating from our Ipswich headquarters, we’re deeply rooted in this town and committed to its long-term success.
As one of the UK’s largest container shipping line, we connect businesses and communities across the country to the world, and the culture with which we support UK trade and our customers is central to everything we do. We are committed to supporting the communities in which we operate, and we’re proud of the way we do business. We believe Ipswich’s bid represents a powerful opportunity to celebrate what makes our town unique while creating lasting benefits for residents, businesses and future generations.
Dan Everitt, MSC UK Managing Director, said: “As a long-standing partner of Ipswich Town Football Club, our support for Ipswich extends well beyond business, so we’re pleased to stand behind the town-wide momentum already building through the #BackTheBid campaign, launched in January 2026, and we encourage other organisations across Suffolk to join us in showing visible support. With the Expression of Interest submission due by 8th February 2026, this is a moment for Ipswich to come together with confidence and ambition.”
A longlist of 8 finalists will be revealed this February, progressing to a shortlist of 4 this summer, with the eventual winner announced before the end of the year. The winning bid will receive £10m from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to deliver on the programme and its legacy.
In support of the bid, MSC UK will use our platform to amplify the campaign, encourage colleague participation, and champion the role that culture can play in strengthening pride, opportunity and community connection across Ipswich. We are excited by what this bid can unlock for the town, and we’re backing Ipswich all the way.
