Demurrage/Detention

EXPORT

DETENTION / DEMURRAGE - PORT/LOCATION: GDYNIA/GDAŃSK

  • Tariff rates are in EURO (per day, per container) 
  • Whenever Demurrage & Detention is combined rates from Detention Tariff will be applied (exception: special agreements) 
  • Export cancellation: the detention stops when the container is returned emptied to the assigned yard and no additional free time is granted
  • In case of free time extension, the lying costs are calculated from the Tier-group in which is included the day following the end of free time
  • Triangulation: in case of re-using container for export, import ends and export begins day after gate out full container from marine terminal in import relation 

DETENTION 

  • Validity from 15 September 2022 (triangulation date/gate-out date of empty container) until further notice 
  • Free days are calendar consecutive days from date of empty container is being picked-up at port or inland depot until gate-in date (counted) of full container at Sea Port/Terminal with complete documentation and with intention to be loaded on first available vessel

This section provides with the full list of depots and terminals in Poland, where MSC containers can be picked up empty.
All information is subject to empty equipment availability on each location, which has to be checked and confirmed by Equipment Department.

EXPORT REEFER COOLING

AT BCT GDYNIA 

THC for reefer containers includes: 

  • plug in/out container to BCT Terminal network 
  • cooling of the reefer container in the period starting from the day prior to the date of advised cut-off up to the date of loading on board of first available vessel

If the container arrives in BCT earlier, EUR 50 will be charged for each started day in the period beginning from the day of delivery of full container up to 12:00 a.m. of the day prior to the to the date of advised cut-off.
Example: in case when advised cut-off is on Friday. 
Gate in full on Thursday – no additional charges for cooling for customer 
Gate in full on Wednesday – EUR 50/cntr 
Gate in full on Tuesday – EUR 100/cntr  
Etc .

AT DCT GDAŃSK

THC for reefer containers includes: 

  • plug in/out container to DCT Terminal network 
  • cooling of the reefer container in the period starting from the day prior to the date of advised cut-off up to the date of loading on board of first available vessel

If the container arrives in DCT earlier, EUR 50 will be charged for each started day in the period beginning from the day of delivery of full container up to 12:00 a.m. of the day prior to the to the date of advised cut-off.
Example: in case when advised cut-off is on Friday. 
Gate in full on Thursday – no additional charges for cooling for customer 
Gate in full on Wednesday – EUR 50/cntr 
Gate in full on Tuesday – EUR 100/cntr 
Etc . 
Hot Stuffing - additional power supply (for started calendar day) - EUR 45/cntr

 

IMPORT REEFER COOLING

AT BCT GDYNIA 

THC for reefer containers includes: 

  • plug in/out container to BCT Terminal network
  • cooling during the day of discharge of containers and next two full calendar day 

Afterwards EUR 50 for Reefer Cooling will be charged for Customer’s account for each started day up until the day of picking up full container from BCT Terminal 
Example: container discharged on Friday. 
Picked up on Monday – EUR 50/per container (1 day)
Picked up on Tuesday – EUR 100/per container (2 days)
Etc.

AT DCT GDAŃSK

THC for reefer containers includes: 

  • plug in/out container to DCT Terminal network 
  • cooling during the day of discharge of containers and next two full calendar days 

Afterwards EUR 50 for Reefer Cooling will be charged for Customer’s account for each started day up until the day of picking up full container from DCT Terminal 
Example: container discharged on Friday. 
Picked up on Monday – EUR 50/per container (1 day)

Change of Destination

Change of Destination (COD) procedure for import cargo 

COD Procedure starts at Port Of Loading (POL). 

There must be COD instruction provided by the Shipper to MSC Agency in POL. 
There must be also the full set of original BL surrendered at any MSC office. 

Then the agent in POL will send COD application to our principal and relevant transshipment port to check out operation feasibility and involved costs if possible. There must be COD costs payer clearly advised. 

Once all costs are confirmed – agent in POL will issue the manifest correction, amending port of discharge and applying COD costs. 

COD Fee is always charged - its amount depends on the port of loading.  

Restows or shifting/transshipment costs may occur - they are based on actual container's position stowed onboard. 

If new freight rate is higher than original freight rate, then new freight rate will be charged. 
If new freight rate is lower than original one, the difference will not be refunded. 

If COD costs payer is located in Poland all above mentioned costs can be collected by MSC Poland in order to make the release smooth and fast. 

Customs

Customs Clearance in Gdynia 

MSC Poland does not offer customs clearance services. Clients should refer to licensed customs brokers.

Customs Clearance in Bremerhaven

MSC Poland does not offer customs clearance services however you can familiarize yourself with the procedure for customs clearance in Bremerhaven: 
Consignee/forwarder has to inform us about forecasted customs clearance three days before mother vessel arrival and accept below mentioned costs (please contact Mr. Jacek Wirkowski at jacek.wirkowski@msc.com
Containers will be stopped in Bremerhaven.

MSC Poland have to receive written confirmation (orginal of T2L) from consignee/forwarder as soon as customs clearance has been done.

MSC Germany have to receive written confirmation (copy of T2L) from consignee/forwarder as soon as customs clearance has been done. 

Containers will be booked on next available feeder only after receipt of written confirmation that customs clearance has been completed. 

Clients have to accept below mentioned costs:

Container Stop Fee - EUR 25  / container 
Storage (3 days free) * as of 4th day - EUR 25  / TEU per day 
* Storage charges counted from container discharge date till customs clearance completion (written confirmation of T2L receipt).

Solas VGM Information 

What is VGM? 
Verified Gross Mass or VGM refers to the exact, verified weight of a packed container. For safety reasons, vessel operators can only load a container if its weight has been verified.

What do I need to include in my VGM instructions? 
You must include the following on all VGM instructions:  

  • Booking or Bill of Lading (BL) number  
  • Container number
  • VGM + weight measurement unit (lbs. or kgs.)  
  • Responsible Party Name  
  • Digital signature of the authorized signatory in all CAPITAL LETTERS

How can I submit my VGM instructions? 

  • via myMSC
  • EDI (via INTTRA; GT NEXUS; Cargo Smart)  
  •  manually via e-mail 

Deadlines for sending your VGM instructions:

  • VGM cut-off is same as Documentation cut-off
  • In case of changes in the vessel’s schedule, documentation cut-off, VGM cut-off, cargo readiness cut-off will be communicated by current procedures (on booking confirmation and via general announcements)
