MEDLOG and CMLOG Expand Cold Storage Capacity in China
12/03/2026
MEDLOG, a company part of the MSC Group, and Chinese logistics company China Master Logistics Co Ltd. (CMLOG) on 11 March 2026 announced the launch of a new joint venture through a network of 5 cold stores in Shanghai, Tianjin and Ningbo.
The new site represents the third and largest installation within a growing network of temperature-controlled facilities developed jointly by MEDLOG and CMLOG in China. Together, these facilities anchor MEDLOG’s strategic cold chain expansion along China’s coastline and respond to the increasing demand for cross-border refrigerated imports.
Strengthening cold-chain capabilities in China
Located in Lingang, within Shanghai’s Special Comprehensive Free Trade Zone, the new cold store has been designed to support the rapid expansion of China’s cold-chain import market and the increasing global trade in fresh and temperature-sensitive products.
The facility integrates advanced intelligent refrigeration and warehouse technologies, including automated warehouse management and control systems, enabling efficient and standardized cold-chain operations. With both bonded and non-bonded storage areas, the warehouse has a total capacity of approximately 80,000 tonnes.
The facility is designed primarily for frozen meat storage, one of China’s largest import segments, as well as seafood, dairy products, fruit and other consumer food items requiring temperature-controlled handling.
End-to-end solutions across the supply chain
As part of MSC Group’s end-to-end transport and logistics ecosystem, MEDLOG works closely with MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company to offer end-to-end supply chain solutions.
By combining shipping services with inland logistics, customs support and temperature-controlled warehousing, the new facility enables customers to benefit from a seamless cold-chain solution connecting international maritime transport with inland distribution and storage.
Supporting Shanghai’s role in global trade
The new cold storage facility is expected to contribute to the continued development of China’s cold-chain logistics sector while supporting the growth of cross-border imports of fresh produce and temperature-sensitive goods. By improving efficiency, compliance and supply chain reliability, the project also reinforces Shanghai’s role as a major hub for international shipping and global trade.
The milestone was marked with an official opening ceremony and a guided warehouse tour for clients and industry stakeholders.
