MSC Takes Part in China’s Largest Import-Themed Expo

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is planning to exhibit at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) which will be held from 5 to 10 November 2020.
This will be the first trade fair that MSC is exhibiting at physically in China in 2020. According to the event organiser, CIIE Bureau, over 3,800 participating enterprises from over 180 countries are expected to take part at this year’s fair.

This year, MSC will be promoting our comprehensive and growing global shipping service network, our cargo expertise especially in the areas of reefer and project cargo, as well as our increasing intermodal solutions in China.

According to government statistics, China’s import volumes have been trending upwards in recent months. As China continues to open up its market, MSC is ready to support the needs of customers to capture the sizeable market. Earlier this year, MSC supported two milestone fruit shipments to China this year – the first-ever shipment of avocados from Colombia and clementines from Chile

To better service inland customers and facilitate cargo flow, MSC has launched several new intermodal services in China this year, including a rail and barge service from Shanghai to Chengdu, and a rail and sea service between Chongqing and Qinzhou.

In recent months, in line with signs of market recovery, MSC has been prudently adding more capacity on our shipping services where possible, and starting new shipping services based on market demand. Examples include the Santana service which connects Asia and North America and the Golden Horn service which links China, Korea and Russia's East Coast. In response to customer demand, MSC has extended the service’s coverage with new calls at Qingdao, Dalian and Xingang and Incheon in South Korea, starting from end October.

MSC will also be promoting our expertise in handling project and breakbulk cargo at CIIE 2020. Manufacturing has been rising in China, and there is also a growing trend for shippers to move more Project or Breakbulk cargo via container ships. Shippers can rely on MSC’s dedicated team of project cargo experts around the world, as well as the breadth of our global network.
