Piracy Risk and Suez Canal Surcharges - Trade from Asia to Mediterranean (inc. West Med, East Med, Adriatic and North Africa)

The security situation of piracy risk around the Arabian Peninsula is affecting vessel operations and transit routes, causing disruption throughout our network.

Accordingly, further to the announcement made on 03 September 2026, MSC will extend the Piracy Risk Surcharge (PRS) and the Suez Canal Surcharge (SCS) to all cargo moving from Asia to the following additional destinations:   

o East Mediterranean: Derince and Port Said West.
o  North Africa, West Mediterranean and Adriatic: Agadir, Alger, Alicante, Ancona, Annaba, Arrecife de Lanzarote, Augusta, Bar, Barcelona, Bari, Bejaia, Bingazi, Cagliari, Cartagena, Casablanca, Civitavecchia, Durres, Fos-sur-Mer, Genoa, Gioia Tauro, Khoms, La Spezia, Las Palmas, Leghorn (Livorno), Malaga, Marsaxlokk, Misurata, Nador, Naples, Oran, Ploce, Pozzallo, Puerto del Rosario - Fuerteventura, Ravenna, Salerno, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Skikda, Termini Imerese Port of Palermo, Trapani, Tripoli, Tunis, Valencia, Venice.

The surcharges below will apply from 19 October 2026 (proforma date) until further notice.

o  A Piracy Risk Surcharge (PRS) of USD 55 per TEU
o  A Suez Canal Surcharge (SCS) of USD 36 per TEU
