As the industry has evolved and trade networks have expanded, the volume of freight being transported by sea has increased dramatically. In 2000, the global fleet consisted of approximately 2,400 container ships with a capacity of 4.3 million TEUs. By 2010 this had tripled, with cargo capacity being spread across approximately 4,700 ships. Add on another 12 years, and by mid-2022 there were around 6,406 container ships with a TEU of 25.8 million tonnes.

Repetitive data entry, inconsistent formatting, and missing fields can easily slow operations down, and even lead to costly mistakes. To make this process faster and more reliable, MSC introduced the Mass Upload Tool on myMSC in October 2023. Built for when you need to handle multiple containers and cargo types, this feature is meant to replace the old Excel-based workflow with a simple copy-and-paste process.

In recent years, Thailand has been steadily strengthening its logistics sector, which currently contributes around 5% to the country’s GDP. With more than 20 large-scale transport infrastructure projects and an investment plan worth over USD 50 billion, the sector is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 6% through 2027. Combined with Thailand’s strategic location and well-developed infrastructure, these developments are reinforcing its position as a key trade and logistics hub in Southeast Asia.

Fresh produce contains more vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants compared to processed or preserved foods, and can often only be grown in certain conditions. Because of this, as both a business and a consumer, being able to safely ship this produce around the world is important. This is where refrigerated containers come in.

The technology used on reefer containers, consisting of a microprocessor inside and an external unit enables perishable goods, or cargo which must be kept at a certain temperature, to be shipped worldwide. Without them, everything from the milk you put in your coffee, to the medications and pharmaceutical products you rely on, wouldn’t be available when needed.
