Maersk Line has informed us that the vessel Maersk Shanghai encountered heavy weather on 3 March 2018, whilst en route to Charleston, USA, from Norfolk, USA, on voyage 803W.

Unfortunately, according to the preliminary information received from Maersk Line, some of the containers onboard may have been damaged or lost overboard amid extreme weather conditions.

MSC understands that the vessel was berthed at Charleston, USA, before proceeding to Freeport, Bahamas (ETA 8 March) where the extent of damage to the vessel and containers will be assessed.
