MSC USA Celebrates Opening of Expanded Charleston Campus

On September 23, MSC USA officially inaugurated its new office in Charleston, South Carolina, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of its U.S. operations. The opening ceremony commemorated the completion of a purpose-built facility, forming part of an expanded campus designed to support sustained long-term growth and strengthen the company’s operational footprint, with capacity to accommodate up to 540 employees.

Honoring a Lasting Legacy: The Jerry E. Baldwin Building

The new building, named in honor of Jerry E. Baldwin, stands as a powerful tribute to his exceptional and enduring contributions to both MSC and the broader Charleston maritime community. 

Jerry E. Baldwin began his career with MSC in 1993 and played a key role in shaping the Charleston office into the organization it is today. Known for his leadership and commitment to colleagues, he was actively involved in the local maritime community through organizations such as the Propeller Club, the Maritime Association of South Carolina, the South Carolina International Trade Conference, and the Charleston Port & Seafarers’ Society. He retired in 2010 yet remained closely connected to MSC, maintaining strong engagement with colleagues while continuing to support the local maritime community.

The facility has been purposefully designed to support the growth of expanding teams while strengthening coordination across multiple departments. It brings together key corporate functions, including Marine Operations, Bids & Tenders, Trade, Sales, Business Transformation, Procurement, Customer Experience, Quality Control, and Talent Management.
By consolidating these teams within a modern, purpose-built environment, the new office is strategically designed to foster enhanced collaboration across divisions and is complemented by a state-of-the-art Training Center

The inauguration of HQ2 reinforces MSC USA’s continued investment in Charleston and its commitment to maintaining a strong, long-term presence in the region. The new office positions the company to support future business needs while continuing to deliver reliable service across its network.
