Emergency Fuel Surcharge - Trades from Asia to USA and Canada
01/04/2026
Recent events in the Middle East have created significant disruption across the global fuel market. This has driven a rapid increase in marine fuel prices globally and has altered the normal geographic distribution of marine fuel supply.
As a consequence this has reduced the availability of bunker fuel at many traditional sourcing locations, which are increasing procurement challenges and adding operating costs across our network.
As a result, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will update the Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) previously announced on 11 March 2026 to offset the operational disruption and maintain service continuity.
As from 01 May 2026 (VATOS; gate-in date) until further notice, the EFS will be applicable to all cargo on the trades from Asia to USA and Canada, and will be charged as follows:
| Trades | 20 DV | 40 DV & HC | 45' HC | 20' RE | 40 HR |
| From Asia to USA and Canada East Coast | USD 322 | USD 644 | USD 815 | USD 483 | USD 966 |
| From Asia to USA and Canada West Coast | USD 234 | USD 467 | USD 591 | USD 351 | USD 701 |
