Today, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company celebrates the maiden call of MSC Rifaya, the most recent MSC ‘Oscar class’ supersize container ship, on her maiden call at Tanjung Pelepas Port. MSC Rifaya is the latest of 19,500 TEU container ships from the leading ocean carrier. The ships are built to exacting engineering standards at Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) in South Korea and sail under the Liberia flag.
MSC Rifaya follows the tradition of being named after female family members or relatives of MSC company employees. The new ship is named after Ms. Rifaya Parveen d/o Raj Mohamed. Mr. Raj Mohamed is the General Manager for Logistics and Intermodal Operations, MSC Asia Regional Office.
