On May 25, Makarov Sailing Cup 2019 Youth Regatta organized by MSC Russia and Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping with the support of the Ministry of Transport of the RussianFederation, was held at fort Konstantin in Kronstadt.
Makarov Sailing Cup 2019 is a grand sailing festival held for the third time by the Russian representative office of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, the world leader in the sphere of logistics and maritime container shipping.
The regatta was held within the framework of a research/practice conference of Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping Makarov Readings. However, not only the students of the legendary Makarov University, but also those from other leading universities of St. Petersburg were able to try themselves as yachtsmen this year: Saint Petersburg State University, Ustinov Baltic State Technical University (Voenmeh), Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University (PGUPS) and Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping.
All of the race participants were rigorously selected: a special commission comprising university top executives and representatives of MSC evaluated the students' academic achievements and their extracurricular activities.

The participation in Makarov Sailing Cup has become a good tradition and subject of active discussion for the students. They try to show best possible results in their studies and take active part in the life of the university, in order to take part in the regatta”.
This year, the picturesque territory of Fort Konstantin and of Kingwinch wake park in Kronstadt became a venue of the regatta. The race course took place in the aquatic area of the Neva bay used for training by the Fort Konstantin yacht club.
The competition was held in two security groups of yachts class Beneteau PLATU 25 and Open 800. In class PLATU 25 race, the team called Rakushka (Shell) gained the day – students from St. Petersburg State Transport University driving a sailing boat Sura; in Open 800 class, the team called Rybki (Fish) was the first on a sailing yacht Quartet – students of Maritime and Inland Shipping University.
