The Port of Colombo in Sri Lanka has honored MSC with the title of most outstanding Main Line Operator, based on the total box operator container throughput in TEUs in all three terminals, surpassing all other shipping companies.
MSC has been operational in Colombo since 1997 and has played an important role in the expansion and productivity of the Columbo port, which is recognized today as the best-connected port in South Asia.
Presently operating 13 main line services and 3 feeder services, MSC is continuously developing transshipment volumes, which fuels the growth of both MSC and the port of Colombo.
The port is gearing up for further extension with the introduction of the East Container Terminal, another deep draft terminal with the capability of handling mega ships. This will further enable MSC to improve its services and transform Port of Colombo into a main transshipment hub in the South Asia region.
