MSC is introducing a new Container Compliance Charge (CCC) of USD8 per 20’ container and USD16 per 40’ or 45’ container, effective 1 October 2020 (POL gate-in date), for all dry import units into the USA.

The Container Compliance Charge will cover the carrier’s costs such as inspecting the container for damages, verifying that it remains seaworthy, and performing necessary repairs. Such costs should not exceed USD500 per container. If maintenance and repair costs for any container should exceed USD500, the customer will be responsible to pay the difference between the carrier’s documented M&R invoice and USD500.

The Container Compliance Charge is not applicable to reefer units, special equipment, or shipper-owned units
