Maersk Shanghai - Cargo Update

Attn: Customers with Cargo on Voyage 803W, America Service

Dear Customers,

In respect of our previous communication of 7 March, MSC would like to update you on the current situation around the vessel Maersk Shanghai.

Maersk Shanghai encountered heavy weather while en route from Norfolk to Charleston, USA, on March 3 2018. An estimated 70-73 containers were damaged or lost overboard from the deck of Bay 42, according to Maersk Line.

The ship later proceeded to Freeport, Bahamas, for inspection.

Maersk Line was unable to discharge the cargo before conducting a week-long salvage operation at Freeport, which was completed on 21 March.

Inspections of containers in Bay 42 will now be carried out and MSC will update you as soon as we have more details.

Regular cargo operations are expected to commence on 23 March and MSC awaits final confirmation of the port rotation for the onward voyage.

Please contact your local MSC agency representatives with any questions.
