Following the severe 7.8 magnitude earthquake in the upper South Island of New Zealand on 14th November, CentrePort Wellington has now officially confirmed that operations will be suspended until further notice.
The suspension will allow for a full inspection and any necessary repairs to be carried out.
The last MSC Capricorn service call to Wellington will be “M/V PENELOPE” voyage FC644A/FC647R on 28th November, using her own gear, and discharging cargo held at Lyttelton from the two previous sailings – MSC Banu FC642A and Passat Summer FC643A.
As a result of this suspension, we request clients to stop import and export bookings for Wellington with immediate effect until further notice.
For cargo currently at sea, MSC New Zealand is currently discussing alternative possible solutions with clients and stakeholders. We welcome clients to use Napier, Tauranga and Auckland for their export bookings during the suspension period.
MSC will continue to liaise closely with CentrePort in respect of possible subsequent calls at Wellington.
