The operators at the Port of Grangemouth have voted to take industrial action and began a two week strike on Tuesday 15th March at 00:00 hrs. Ship side operations are expected to resume on Tuesday 29th March.
MSC is monitoring this situation and has taken the following action to ensure minimal impact for our customers.
CONTINGENCY VIA GREENOCK
We are pleased to confirm that for the short term, we will be diverting our operations to Greenock.
The Rijnborg vessel arrived at Grangemouth on Monday 14th March and we have been assured by the Port that loading will commence with limited labour on Thursday 17th March.
Scottish exports will be served on our weekly service from Greenock on the Wes Janine with the next call planned for Monday 21st March. Additional vessels will be deployed to ensure all containers can be moved out for onward connections in Europe.
To facilitate the expected demand, we are moving empty containers into Greenock with expected availability on Monday 21st March.
In order to continue offering a service to Scotland for our customers, we can confirm that all import cargoes will also be discharged at the Port of Greenock. In this instance, for import cargoes this will be classified as Force Majeure.
