Detention, demurrage, Per Diem and storage charges

What is demurrage?

Demurrage is the charge applicable for the excessive use of container equipment after the free time expires, at the terminal at Port of Discharge and Place of Delivery.

In case of a demurrage dispute, email UZ548-info@msc.com (email subject: Dispute + Invoice Number), describing the reasons for your dispute. 

  

What are storage charges?

Storage charge is applicablefor the use of the landafter the free time expires, for containers left at Port of Discharge and Place of Delivery (destination railway station). 

  

Demurrage and storage: payment policy

Please note that the shipment will be released ONLY after funds clear.The agency does not accept payment order copies or written guarantees to release shipments from Demurrage and/orStoragehold.

SOLAS VGM information

What is VGM?

Verified Gross Mass or VGM refers to the exact, verified weight of a packed container. For safety reasons, vessel operators can only load a container if its weight has been verified.

  

What do I need to include in my VGM instructions?

The following items are mandatory and must be on all VGM

instructions:

  • Booking or Bill of Lading number

  • Container number

  • VGM + unit

  • Authorized person’s signatory (submitter of the VGM who may be authorized to act on behalf of shippers)

  • Responsible party Name and address

  • Weighing method used (1 or 2)

  • Unique number of VGM certificate and date of issue

 

How can I submit my VGM instructions?

  • myMSC

  • EDI (via INTTRA; GT NEXUS; Cargo Smart)

  • E-mails

  • It is compulsory to submit a scanned copy of VGM certificate by e-mail

  

Guidelines for submitting your VGM instructions

VGM submission should be done according to Port of Loading requirements on VGM. Port of Loading may vary depending on the shipment routing. 

 

All VGM must be submitted electronically or transmitted to MSC prior loading, failing which containers will not be planned on the

scheduled vessel. All costs, consequences shall be on Shipper's account for any delay in submitting VGM, non-submission of VGM

and/or for any noncompliance to VGM statutory guidelines.

 

Specific cutoff date and hour for the VGM, will be mentioned on booking stage and vessel schedules provided by the local agency.

Cutoff times may vary according to each Marine terminal’s capacity and regulation.
