MSC is the first container carrier ever to be invited for the event
Commercial director of MSC Brasil, Laurent Van Der Voo, was invited to give a speech about Forest Products correlated with the container market at the Pulp & Paper Industry (PPI) Transport Symposium, which occurred during 19-21 of October 2015 in Bremen, Germany.
It was the first time ever a container carrier was invited to participate at the event, which provided the opportunity to introduce and present the company’s assets and logistics solutions to an important group of exporters, importers and freight forwarders especially from South America.
The invitation came from Ana Paula Trilho, Logistics Manager of Klabin; - one of Brazil’s main paper and cellulose exporters -, and also director of IFPTA (International Forest Products Transport Association), with whom Laurent participated in a discussion panel along with other representatives from the segment.
MSC Brasil’s Commercial director spoke specifically about MSC’S container carrier experience and expertise regarding the segment of Forest products, which were classically and most commonly loaded by Break Bulk carriers in the past.
Since Brazil is one of the main exporters in this sector worldwide; - with growing numbers year after year specially on cellulose -, Mr. Van Der Voo could demonstrate in details MSC’s efforts to attend the industry’s growing demand. He explained how MSC has invested heavily over the last decade to change such scenario aiming to become leader carrier in the Forest Products Market.
The possibility to join such event represents an opportunity for MSC to comprehend future market trends and anticipate its position towards the segment, therefore increasing brand strength and amplifying the vision regarding all steps of the process: from mill to final consumer.
The event was idealized by RISI (Resource Information Systems Inc., - provider of economic analysis for the global forest products industry) in partnership with IFPTA (International Forest Products Transport Association).
Read below a statement from Ana Paulo Trilho, IFPTA (International Forest Products Transport Association) director:
“It is great to see MSC being the first container carrier participating in our community. This is very significant for forest products and we really believe there is no way back!! Containers are here to stay with us!”
