In recent years, the world has taken a more progressive stance on matters relating to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
As one of the world’s leading container shipping lines, MSC believes the development and application of CSR policies throughout our business is imperative for the future health of our planet and its people.
We recognise the world's oceans, and its creatures, are precious, and must be protected from pollution.
We recognise too, that our transportation business activity has an impact across land as well as sea, and that we must be conscious of that in our planning and progress.
At MSC we are addressing all areas of CSR.
- Environmental performance,
- Global employee and supplier code of conduct,
- Investment in people and local communities.
Of particular focus is MSC's impact on the environment. Although container shipping is the most carbon-friendly means of global trade, we recognise that our vessels each have a significant carbon footprint.
We have already delivered a significant programme of enhancements to reduce these emissions through the implementation of improved hull design, engine innovation and best practice maintenance.
We are also working continuously to limit the risks associated with transporting dangerous cargo.
To ensure the proper and effective management of this important initiative, MSC has developed a central CSR Team, based at its Geneva headquarters.
This team works closely with employees and specialists across the globe, to help us progressively develop and deliver our ever-more ambitious CSR agenda.
As a world-class carrier, we play a key role, together with industry partners, in developing a better, more sustainable world for future generations.
You can trust MSC to maintain a focus on this critical responsibility at every step of our business activity with you.
