We asked our trainee Roberto Pineda to share his impressions on being an apprentice at MSC Austria.
Roberto started his apprenticeship programme in August 2015. Being eager to learn about shipping and putting his knowledge into practice in a very professional manner, he is now a very valuable part of MSC Austria.
Knowing how important MSC has become for the worldwide trade in the last years, I knew that applying for the apprenticeship couldn´t be a wrong decision! Every new beginning is exciting, when you think you must spend part of your day with new colleagues, learning about new things you have probably never heard before, communicating with customers and MSC colleagues around the world. Well, I have to accept that I was a little bit nervous!
After being part of MSC Austria for a few months, I realized I had nothing to worry about. I felt very welcome from the first day I stepped into the company. I was very surprised from the structured and good planned schedule for the whole apprenticeship. As apprentice at MSC Austria I get the opportunity to learn and work in each department, which I think is great, because it will expand my knowledge and for sure this will open opportunities in the company in the future. Beside work, I attend school once a week, where I learn the basics concerning Transportation, Geography, Customs, English and Accounting.
I feel very supported from all my colleagues, they are always at my side to clear any doubt I have, no matter if it´s about the different procedures and situation I face every day with costumers, but they also help me sharing their knowledge, solving doubts about themes from school.
The atmosphere at work is very professional, friendly and with a very good relationship between all the colleagues. There are different non-work activities during the year in which we get the chance to know each other better.
