MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. wishes to remind NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) customers that to comply with US Customs regulations, the ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) filing, formerly known as AMS (Advanced Manifest System) filing must be lodged no less than 24 hours prior to the vessel’s arrival at port of loading for direct cargo or at the last transhipment port for transhipment and FROB (Freight Remaining on Board) cargo.
MSC will supply the relevant information to assist your filing for transhipment and FROB cargo, however it is the NVOCC customer's responsibilities to monitor the status of the filing and ensure that the correct filing is completed within the above mentioned deadline.
If the filing is not in place within the deadline, the containers will be held at the relevant ports. Any customs penalties or associated costs due to late transmission or inaccurate filing will be on the account of NVOCC customer.
It is also NVOCC customer's responsibility to advise MSC who will lodge the ACE (AMS) filing with US Customs. Please do not send the ultimate shipper and consignee details to MSC unless you request MSC to lodge the ACE (AMS) filing on your behalf.
