HighFlux HomeLab

A macromolecular home-lab X-ray system consists of five major components: X-ray generator, optics, area detector, software and crystal cryo-cooling system.

Rigaku offers options in all five areas so researchers can customize their lab to fit their experimental needs. Through years of experience, Rigaku has developed the expertise to easily integrate different technologies into a customized package that is 100% supported by the Rigaku organization.

Customers who purchase an X-ray system from Rigaku will receive the maximum flexibility in selecting components and also experience the benefits of full system responsibility from one company.

HighFlux HomeLab™

A Rigaku green solutionOur most popular system, the HighFlux HomeLab is a complete home X-ray diffraction system that enables data collection on a wide range of protein crystal samples. The foundation of this system is the Rigaku MicroMax™-007 HF, a second generation true microfocus rotating anode generator. With its unique 70 x 70 micron anode focal spot, long uptimes and reduced maintenance requirements, the MicroMax-007 HF has taken rotating anode technology to the next level. When coupled with an VariMax optic, this uniquely small focal spot leads to a intense, monochromatic beam on the sample which is the perfect complement to optimize signal-to-noise for the small crystals used in today's protein laboratories. The usable flux produced by the HighFlux HomeLab is up to 20 times greater than that of a conventional generator and optic, enabling the collection of quality data on small crystals that diffract too weakly on standard home sources.

The HighFlux HomeLab can be equipped with one or two detectors. Rigaku manufactured detectors are fully integrated with the MicroMax-007 HF generator and optics to allow high resolution data collection on your samples. Rigaku manufactures both imaging plate (IP) and CCD based detectors that are state-of-the-art for protein X-ray diffraction data screening and data collection. A Rigaku R-AXIS IP detector is ideal for small or poorly diffracting crystals with possibly large unit cells. The Rigaku Saturn CCD detector is excellent for screening or fast data collection with crystals that diffract well. The X-stream™ 2000 low temperature system maintains the crystals at cryogenic temperatures without the need for a house supply of liquid nitrogen.

For increased throughput, a Rigaku ACTOR™ crystal mounting robot ensures maximum productivity.
