Osmic™ Blue optic
The Rigaku Osmic Blue optical system provides an intense, monochromatic beam that is easy to align and safe to use. Installed in hundreds of crystallography labs around the world, the Osmic Blue optic is based on Rigaku's patented Confocal Max-Flux® optic design and was the first graded multilayer optic used extensively for protein crystallography.
New developments have resulted in the latest generation Osmic Blue optic, which offers more flux and improved durability compared to the original models. Although the flux of the Osmic Blue optic is now surpassed by the Osmic VariMax optics, the Osmic Blue optic offers an excellent lower cost alternative for protein crystallography that provides a more intense and higher quality beam than Yale Mirrors or other older style reflection-style optics.
